Step 1: Pick one audience and one promise
A demo that tries to speak to everyone speaks to no one. Decide who watches it and what they should believe at the end. Write that promise in one sentence, for example: "Invoice clients in two clicks."
Step 2: Prepare four to six screenshots
- Use realistic sample data, not lorem ipsum or empty states
- Hide anything private: names, emails and keys
- Capture at the size people really use, and crop the browser chrome if it is noisy
- Put them in story order: problem, main screen, key action, result
Step 3: Write a short script
Aim for one or two sentences per screen, around 24 words at most for each. Say what the viewer sees and why it matters. Skip adjectives like "powerful" and "seamless". Show the result instead.
Step 4: Add a voice and captions
A calm, clear voice works better than a hyped one. Always add captions, because many viewers have the sound off. If you sell in several markets, make one version per language.
Step 5: Add motion that guides the eye
Zoom into the part of the screen being described and move a cursor to the control. The goal is to tell the viewer where to look at every moment.
Step 6: Publish where buyers are
- Landing page hero
- Sales and onboarding emails
- Product Hunt and launch posts
- YouTube and LinkedIn
- Your help center
The shortcut
Steps 3 to 5 are what DemoVey does for you. Upload the screenshots, describe the product, and it writes the script, records the voice and animates the camera.
